The VenShrimp Raceway System

We manufactured a simple, removable raceway system specifically for Macrobrachium rosenbergii farming.
 

The system is built from:

• A black plastic sheet – greenhouse quality, durable and affordable
• A tubular frame – like setting up a tent. The frame slides into sleeves sewn into the plastic
• An electric waterwheel – creates gentle water movement and adds oxygen
• A recirculation pump – pumps water through a filter and returns it to the system
• An air stone – connected to a small compressor for extra oxygen

The whole system is:

• Portable – can be assembled, dismantled, and moved
• Scalable – can be any size, with add-on sections available

Raceway technology is not new. It has been studied and validated by leading aquaculture research institutions around the world. The Texas AgriLife Mariculture Lab, for example, has published peer-reviewed research demonstrating that super-intensive raceway systems can produce 8-9 kg of marketable shrimp per cubic meter with excellent survival rates and minimal environmental impact.

However, we did not just read about it—we built it.

We have been designing, building, and operating these raceway systems commercially since 2005, originally for algae cultivation. This gave us decades of real-world experience in water recirculation, aeration, and system durability. We know exactly what works in practice—not just in theory.

Now, we are bringing that same proven engineering expertise to freshwater Macrobrachium rosenbergii farming. While the Texas research focused on marine shrimp, the engineering principles remain the same.
